This is the second post in my series about our holiday in Tuscany in August 2008. We spent a lot of time at the beach just relaxing and hanging out. One afternoon we felt like being a little more active and rented bikes for a trip through a pine forest. So much fun! There was this little shop really close to our usual beach where we picked up the bikes and about 5 minutes into the ride we saw a group of dear. Totally cute! The pine trees were huge and there were millions of cicale. It was super loud in that forrest!
After about 20 minutes or so, we stopped and chained our bikes to some trees. We took our towels and walked over to the beach. It was the same stretch of beach we usually stayed at, but this one was really private because you could only get there by bike or on foot. There were little huts you could stay in for shade. We spent a lot of time in the water and Marco collected a lot of little telline – which is why he became the unofficial telline-fisherman of the vacation 🙂 We let the little clams clean themselves in salt water at home and had them for dinner with spaghetti. Doesn’t get any fresher than that!
One evening we were invited to a private villa up on the hills above Porto Ercole. The house was nice, but the garden and pool were amazing! Can you imagine swimming in that pool below while looking at a view like that? Gorgeous!
