People drive different vehicles in different parts of the world. A little while ago I found the perfect example. Check out the pictures below of a normal truck vs. a Hummer and then a little sports car vs. the Hummer. The regular truck is the typical size car you see here in Texas – much bigger than what you would find in Germany. There’s very few trucks or SUVs this size on the road in Germany. A Hummer? Pretty much unheard of in Germany. Here in Texas? Not an everyday sight, but I’ve seen many around here. Now, I’m not saying everybody is driving a Porsche in Germany, but you see much, much smaller cars on the streets. Check out how small the Hummer makes the little car look 🙂

Everything is really big in Texas!

  • When I went back to Texas for the summer, I definitely noticed that the average car size is much bigger than in Malaysia. I think that Hummer wouldn’t even fit down some of the narrow streets here. My brother-in-law used to have a Range Rover. I was amazed at how much headroom it had. I could reach my arms up and still not touch the ceiling.

In Germany neither 🙂 It’s funny how your own perception of size changes depending on where you live. In Europe we always rent the tiny economy cars and it feels relatively normal. Then we get back and feel tiny in our regular size sedans because everybody drives huge trucks and SUVs.

    Hi Sabrina,
I certainly agree that the Hummer is a big vehicle and dwarfs regular cars, but the picture you show is not an off-the-shelf Hummer. It has definitely been modified, for more ground clearance.
Btw, I think I’ve mentioned my usual saying about America and the size of the cars here before, but let me repeat it again, “You know that you’re in America when, on a parking lot, a Mercedes S-Class looks like a midsize sedan. And you know you’re in Texas when it looks like a compact car.” 😉
Have a great one, and stay cool,

I didn’t know this was a special modification! I guess that explains some things 🙂 Yes, I think you mentioned the comparison before and it is SO TRUE! 🙂 By the way… it has been really cool up here these past few days. we even had some rain. Crazy times!
