Spring is a beautiful season here in Emilia Romagna. Everything is green and lush, the sun is shining often, and everything is blooming. The famous Italian cherries in Vignola are making everything south of Modena appear white. The field of pear trees across from our house looks white too. The poppy seeds by the side of the road are so red that they seem fake. Everywhere you look, something is blooming. The spring flowers have arrived!

In Related News: Cottonwood

The only downside? There is so much pollen going around, that it sometimes looks like it’s snowing! The tree is called pioppo, or cottonwood in English, and the poor people who have allergies have to barricade themselves in their houses. Excuse the bad picture, but if you focus on the tree… See the white grainy dots? All of that is pollen!
